There is a continuing fascination with exploring

and interpreting the material body, it's

properties and form.

A photograph can record a body’s outward

appearance but I wanted to show more.  To give

an indication of the body's history through the

marks left, as well as to give a hint of what lies

beneath the surface.  It's as if the inside has

now become partially visible, appearing almost

like a tattoo.

I want to reinterpret the body image, to give it

a broader identity than that which the media

forces us to see.
